Council revises stop-sign plan after reconsideration; vote 4-1

Melbourne's City Council revisited traffic control changes at its July 13 meeting and voted to rescind a June 22 motion and adopt a revised stop-sign placement plan.
Under the replacement motion, stop signs will be placed at the north and south corners of 3rd Avenue with 1st, 2nd and 3rd Streets, and at the east and west corners of 4th Avenue and 3rd Street. The motion to rescind and replace the previous action was made by Councilperson Josh Fuller and seconded by Gary Fricke. The motion passed 4–1; Councilperson Beth Opperman voted no. Council framed the change as intended to make unregulated corners safer for cross traffic.
