School IT director wins board approval to switch Verizon plan and transition from BoardDocs to Diligent, division says savings expected

Director of technology Mr. Bassey told the board the division can leverage a Fairfax County Verizon agreement to lower division cell-phone service from $49.99 per line to $36.99 per line and estimated roughly $2,400 in annual savings; he said the contract includes phone upgrades at no cost and no additional recurring cost beyond the reduced rate. The board moved to accept the recommendation to begin the Verizon contract change and approved it.
Bassey also said that BoardDocs is being sunsetted by its parent company and the division will move to Diligent Community at a cost of $5,500 per year with a 2% cap on future annual renewals; the vendor will provide a 90-day transition window during which content will be migrated. The board approved that contract request.
Board members framed the actions as cost-saving and operationally straightforward; staff were authorized to finalize transition details and implement the new vendor and phone plan.
