The Northumberland County School Board on July 13 approved a plan to surplus several aging vehicles and equipment in the transportation fleet.
Director of transportation Stacy Bridal told the board the division had seven buses and several other vehicles with damaged or blown engines that have been cannibalized for parts. She also identified a bus lift (a pneumatic jack/lift) for surplus and recommended selling the items via sealed bid, saying that sealed bids have been the community’s accustomed method and tend to move more quickly than government auctions.
Board members moved to accept the recommendation to surplus the listed buses and equipment by sealed bid. The motion was seconded and carried.
Bridal said the surplus is necessary because the district lacks storage room and needs to clear space before taking delivery of new equipment. The board directed staff to proceed with sealed-bid disposition per the motion.
