OCTA briefs Laguna Woods on Measure M’s 15-year progress and local investments

He summarized countywide accomplishments (freeway improvements, local street rehabilitation, signal synchronization and transit support) and highlighted the local share that Laguna Woods has received: more than $5.6 million since 2011, including roughly $1.4 million directed to the senior mobility program and more than $3.5 million from the local fair share program to support local street maintenance and four rehabilitation projects.
Councilmembers asked about forecasting, coordination with Caltrans on freeway projects and whether revenue projections can change with economic conditions. Buckley said the figure is a projection that varies with sales tax receipts and noted OCTA’s efforts to leverage Measure M dollars to attract state and federal grants. Council members and public commenters praised the local senior mobility service and asked staff to continue to monitor allocations and make information available to residents.
The council moved to receive and file the presentation; the motion passed and staff will keep the council informed during OCTA’s ongoing long-range planning efforts.
