Lincoln County official says TerraPower project could bring $5 million per year in sales and use tax

Allen said county GIS mapping is being expanded to show trails and should be online in September or October. He said Bob King has been appointed to support Travel and Tourism in North Lincoln County, and that funding has been allocated for youth programs. "The Travel and Tourism Committee will be comprised of members from each municipality to ensure fair distribution of funds," Allen said.
Allen also described infrastructure projects in South Lincoln County, saying an Improvement Service District is progressing and an asphalt plan is planned outside Opal with a feed lot to be developed near Sage Junction. He told the council: "Sales and Use tax revenue is anticipated in the amount of $5 million per year for the next 5 years due to the TerraPower nuclear power plan project outside of Kemmerer." He said the county is managing concerns about septic dumping and discussed the effect of a 25% property tax reduction for this year.
On county planning items Allen reminded council members about an overlay update and asked that any local updates be submitted by Aug. 1. He noted the Lincoln County Transportation Master Plan update and mentioned potential impacts to Muddy String Road. In response to a question from Councilman Merrill, Allen said the county was advancing Star Valley Health’s portion of the mill levy for six months to provide interim financial assistance; he also said EMS issues were being addressed.
