Tioga commission adopts $2 million auditor bond and approves assorted administrative budgets and rules

The Tioga City Commission on June 15 adopted Resolution 2026‑04 to fix the City Auditor’s fidelity bond at $2,000,000, citing the North Dakota Century Code provisions reviewed at the meeting. President Brett Rieniets read the resolution language and Commissioner Jaden Iverson moved to adopt; the motion passed by roll call.

The resolution references North Dakota Century Code Section 26.1‑21‑06 (fidelity bond coverage) and Section 40‑13‑02 (bond limits fixed by governing body). The commission found a $2,000,000 bond amount to be sufficient and approved coverage through the State Bonding Fund as recorded in the resolution text.

The commission also approved routine operational expenditures and administrative actions: the 2027 Vector Control budget in the amount of $19,200; a $2,749 quote from NCC to update security equipment; a $2,200 inspection/repair quote from ND Sewage and Pump & Lift Station Service; and accepted interest from retiring maintenance employee Mark Dahl to move from full‑time to part‑time to operate the landfill. The commission approved advertising to recruit a Street/Water Superintendent until July 6, 2026.

Separately, the commission approved the 2026 fireworks rule allowing fireworks within city limits from noon to 1 a.m. July 2–4 and on Sunday, July 5 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. The consent agenda, which included bills, payroll, liquor license renewals, planning and zoning permits and conditional use applications, and several fund applications, was approved.
