Tioga commission approves Signal Road task order after engineers present multi‑million dollar street estimates

Commissioner Kyle Ralston asked about ownership of 67th Street, noting the city owns half and Tioga Township owns the other half; Attorney Liz Pendlay advised meeting with the township to gauge participation.
Patrick Carabello of Brosz Engineering asked the commission which projects it wanted to pursue and noted material tradeoffs: asphalt typically requires more maintenance but is roughly half the cost of concrete, a factor for routes designated for trucks. Following that discussion, Commissioner Ralston moved to approve Task Order 2‑2026 (Signal Road) and the motion passed by roll call vote.
The commission did not adopt final construction funding for any of the projects; Reiner emphasized the estimates are preliminary and subject to change once geotechnical work is completed. Next steps noted at the meeting include scheduling geotechnical investigations for Benson and South Main Streets and meeting with Tioga Township about 67th Street ownership and cost‑sharing.
