The Ste. Genevieve City Board of Aldermen voted unanimously to adopt a proclamation to recognize the Saint Mary site as part of a French Creole Heritage District.
Board members discussed naming conventions so the site’s designation aligns with other local French Creole heritage groups and the larger Mississippi River Valley corridor. A motion to adopt the proclamation and a revitalization initiative for the Saint Mary site was made, seconded and passed by voice vote.
Staff will continue drafting the proclamation language and coordinate a work session to finalize details after some budget items are completed.
