Students report theatrical production, trips and academic supports; district seeks volunteers for Career Day
Summary

SHS student representatives Carolyn Castonguay, Jonathan Breton and Daniella Percoski updated the Somers Board of Education on recent student activities and upcoming events.
Students described the high-school production of The Music Man on March 6–7 as "phenomenal," and they shared photos from that performance and from a United States History field trip to Washington, D.C. Forty-seven students attended the Washington trip on March 12–14. The students said the SAT Academy continues bi-weekly to support improvements in SAT performance, and they noted other events including an AP Art trip to New York City (3/27), the Trade Fair (4/2), the UConn Chemistry trip (4/30), a district blood drive (5/1), and multiple senior activities and exams culminating in graduation on June 10, 2026.
Superintendent Dr. Sam Galloway congratulated eight SES students who advanced to the Connecticut Invention Convention state finals on May 2, 2026, and reminded the board that Career Day at MBA on May 1 seeks volunteers with experience as a veterinarian, in coding/cybersecurity, and as an athletic trainer.
The student reports and superintendent announcements were presented for the board's information; no board action was required.
