Denton board adopts hay surplus resolution, schedules bid letting; tables Allo signing and agrees to annual radium testing

The Village of Denton Board of Trustees adopted Resolution No. 25-1-1 to re-advertise and accept sealed bids for 12 large round brome hay bales. The resolution directs the clerk to publish notice in three prominent village locations and the Lincoln Journal Star for not less than seven days prior to sale, schedules a bid letting for Feb. 3, 2025, and reserves the village’s right to reject any and all bids. The resolution text recorded in the minutes states the total fair market value of the hay is less than $65.

The board reviewed an Allo franchise agreement that would set a 3% franchise fee for service in the village. Trustee Osborn initially moved to approve the agreement and Trustee Trent Wheatley seconded; subsequent discussion led Trustee Amanda Fangmeier to move, and Trustee Trent Wheatley to second, a motion to table signing of the contract until further communication with Allo. The board carried the motion to table and directed that the franchise agreement remain on the February agenda for further discussion.

Maintenance staff provided water-quality information: Blackledge presented raw radium test results and the board reached consensus to perform radium testing annually going forward. Staff also reported that the water meter software was installed and that Ross will receive training to install radio-read meters, beginning with the oldest meters. The board discussed snow removal policy (current practice: blade streets after 3 inches of snowfall) and asked the chair to handle adjustments until the board votes on any formal policy change.

Claims and transfers were approved: Claims List A $40,143.15; Claims List B $8,450.00; Claims List C $20,377.90; and December payroll $10,095.03. The meeting adjourned at 9:14 p.m.
