Denton trustees elect Joe Hobelman chairman; Ryan Osborn sworn in

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Denton, Nebraska, convened Dec. 2 at the Denton Community Center and swore in Ryan Osborn as a trustee. The board then conducted its reorganization and elected Joe Hobelman as chairman for a two‑year term in a private ballot, with Hobelman receiving three votes to Amanda Fangmeier’s two.
The clerk was appointed chair pro tem to run the reorganization proceedings, and nominations for chair were made by Trustee Trenton Wheatley (nominating Hobelman) and Trustee Doug Rosekrans (nominating Amanda Fangmeier). After nominations were closed by motion and a private ballot, the board certified the result and Hobelman took the chair seat.
The trustees also approved a slate of 2025 appointments by motion: Maureen Freeman‑Cady as village attorney; Justin Stark as street superintendent (Class A S‑1534); Ross Blackledge as water/sewer commissioner; Amanda Fangmeier as emergency management coordinator; Joe Hobelman as floodplain administrator; and Charlotte Te Brink as clerk‑treasurer‑zoning administrator. The motion to approve the appointments carried on the board’s vote.
The reorganization completed the board’s administrative business for the evening. The meeting record shows the board then proceeded to routine agenda items and approvals before adjourning at 7:40 p.m.
