The Thomasville City Council unanimously approved an amended agenda and later convened a closed session for attorney‑client matters during a briefing meeting on Aug. 11, 2025.
City Manager Brandt asked the council to add a closed session for attorney‑client matters to the agenda. Council Member Hunter Thrift moved to approve the agenda as amended; Council Member Lisa Shell seconded. The motion passed 6–0.
Later in the meeting, Council Member JacQuez Johnson moved that the council go into closed session for personnel and attorney‑client matters; Council Member Shell seconded. The motion passed 6–0. The council returned to open session with no action taken while in closed session.
The meeting opened at 4:00 p.m. at 20 Stadium Drive, Thomasville, with Mayor Raleigh York, Jr.; Mayor Pro Tem Hunter Thrift; and Council Members Neal Grimes, JacQuez Johnson, Lisa Shell, Scott Styers and Payton Williams present. Council Member Doug Hunt was recorded as excused.
Council Member Johnson later moved to adjourn the briefing; Council Member Styers seconded. The motion passed 6–0 and the meeting was adjourned.
The council noted several items will be considered at the regular City Council meeting on Aug. 18, 2025, including consent items, proclamations and the regular‑agenda items previewed during the briefing.
