The Sturgeon Bay School District board voted to transfer $214,271.21 from the district's general Fund 10 to Fund 46, the long‑term maintenance account, and approved several personnel actions and donations during its July 13 meeting.
Business Manager Jake (Speaker 8) presented the recommended year‑end transfer and noted the board had previously budgeted $180,000 to Fund 46 as part of the approved annual budget. "If you want to approve the $214,271.21 to transfer to Fund 46, we can certainly do that," Jake told the board. A board member (Speaker 7) moved the transfer and the motion was seconded; the board carried the motion by voice vote.
The transfer was presented as a routine year‑end reconciliation and an effort to concentrate long‑term maintenance dollars for planned capital needs. The superintendent explained Fund 46 is intended for future capital and maintenance projects and that previous budget approvals included a planned transfer amount; this vote formalized the final year‑end transfer after reconciliations.
On consent, the board approved multiple personnel actions: converting a part‑time speech‑language pathologist (Brooklyn) to full‑time for 2026–27; hiring Makayla Yant as a part‑time special education teacher associate at Sawyer Elementary; and hiring Evelyn Charney as a special education teacher associate for the Rebound Door County program. The board also accepted resignations from Desiree Lambrecht (associate position at Sawyer) and Beth Halstead (grade 6–12 choir teacher).
The board accepted community donations listed in the packet, including local gifts for staff appreciation and student programming and a $100,000 anonymous donation designated for an elementary playground. The superintendent said the donations and hires are included in the meeting packet and recommended by administration.
The vote on the Fund 46 transfer and the consent agenda items were voice votes recorded by the chair; the chair announced the motions carried.
