Denton board approves claims, Keno transfer, grants budget and records $250,000 CD purchase

At its Oct. 3 meeting the Village of Denton Board of Trustees approved several financial and administrative actions, including claims payments, a transfer of Keno funds, a grants budget for 2025, a donation to Nebraska Rural Water, and a report of a certificate-of-deposit purchase.
The board approved claims list B for $90,760.93 and claims list A for $830.72; September payroll of $9,928.93 was also approved. Trustees authorized a $30,000 transfer from the village's Keno account to the General fund. The motions to approve claims and the transfer were recorded as carried.
The board also reached consensus to send grant solicitation letters to local nonprofits and set the 2025 grants budget at $12,000. Separately, trustees approved a $2,500 donation to Nebraska Rural Water.
Clerk-Treasurer Charlotte TeBrink reported she purchased a $250,000 certificate of deposit through LPL Financial for an 18-month term at 4.1% using proceeds from a redeemed CD; the minutes record this as a clerk report rather than a board motion.
The minutes list Keno program figures for September: gross proceeds $533,987.64, payout percentage 84.22%, unclaimed wins $256.77, village share $37,635.90 and operator share $46,610.17. The board adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
