Denton trustees approve mower, traffic equipment and claims; set employee evaluations

The Village of Denton Board of Trustees met Sept. 10 at the Denton Community Center and approved several municipal purchases and spending items, as well as scheduling personnel evaluations.
Trustees voted to buy a Lazer Z X-Series 72-inch mower from Crete Ace Hardware for $15,599.00 after a motion by Trustee Amanda Fangmeier and a second from Trustee Doug Rosekrans; the motion carried. The board also approved a $5,275.78 bid from ARB for traffic-control signs, barricades and supplies on a motion by Trustee John Juricek, seconded by Trustee Trent Wheatly. Separately, trustees approved a $750 bid from Lincoln Underground Sprinkler to move and repair sprinklers (motion by Trustee Doug Rosekrans, seconded by Trustee Trent Wheatly).
The board approved Claims List A for $4,543.63, Claims List B for $13,092.90 and August payroll totaling $8,461.42 on a motion by Trustee John Juricek, seconded by Trustee Amanda Fangmeier; the motion carried. The treasurer reported fund balances including a General Fund balance of $101,109.67 and noted a Keno village share of $19,029.93 from July 24 gross proceeds.
Maintenance staff Blackledge advised the board that a 24-hour composite water test will be conducted next month and noted ballfield infield maintenance. Blackledge also requested permission to apply for a 2025 security grant to purchase a GPS locator unit; the transcript records the request but no formal vote on the grant application is shown.
Trustees Joe Hobelman and Doug Rosekrans were appointed to conduct employee evaluations, tentatively scheduled for Monday, Sept. 16, starting at 2 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
