Cornish council to send termination letter to Econo Waste, schedules public hearing on annexation policy

Councilmember Colton Creech presented a draft termination letter to Econo Waste and said he planned to send the letter by certified mail the next day. Creech also reported that the Planning and Zoning Commission invited affected entities to comment on a proposed annexation policy plan but no one attended the commission’s recent meeting; the commission will hold a public hearing at its next meeting so any citizen may offer comment.
Creech additionally raised an animal-control concern relayed by Max Pierce about where to take stray dogs after Pierce said the county previously would not accept them. Mayor Matt Leak said he spoke with a county representative who told him the county will accept dogs from Cornish in the future if Max brings them in. The council did not adopt an ordinance or take further formal action on planning matters during the meeting, but Creech’s termination letter and the scheduling of a public hearing set procedural next steps for staff and the commission.
