Three new paramedic interns sworn in at Fitchburg EMS commission meeting

Kiara Cherry and Natalie Simek each recited the oath to serve as a sworn emergency medical technician of the district. During the pinning ceremony staff identified mentors and described training milestones; the commission also recognized a recent retirement (Gary Samala, last working day 06/22) and long‑service anniversaries for several staff members.
Commissioners and staff congratulated the new interns and mentors. The chair and chief thanked those involved in recruitment and training and said the district remains focused on internal training and retaining staff as it expands daytime coverage.
The swearing and recognition were ceremonial and took place early in the meeting before routine business.
