White Cloud council adopts 2026–27 budget, sets millage at 16.5644 mills; approves $35,000 street‑fund transfer

Mayor Brian Miller called the White Cloud City Council to order at 6:00 p.m. June 2 and the council unanimously adopted the city’s fiscal year 2026–27 budget, setting the tax millage at 16.5644 mills.
City Manager April Storms told the council the proposed millage for 2026–27 is 16.5644 and said it is lower than the prior year’s rate, which she reported as 16.6091 mills. During the public hearing resident Marva Shears spoke in favor of the lower rate, saying the council should “continue this trend.”
The budget adoption authorizes the revenues and expenditures for the city’s funds for the coming fiscal year. Councilmember Miller moved to adopt Resolution 2026‑23 and Herm Becker seconded; the measure passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
