The Planning and Zoning Committee approved a special use permit on June 18, 2026, to expand a licensed child care center in the Town of Iron River from a prior maximum of 12 children to 25. The Town of Iron River recommended approval. The committee added conditions limiting hours of operation to 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and capping total enrollment at 25 children including the owner/operator’s children. Jeff Holte moved for approval; Jamie Tucker seconded the motion, which carried 5–0.
Ruth Hulstrom, zoning director, said the expansion would allow additional after‑school and summer care to accommodate local demand. The committee’s approval permits the facility to proceed under county special use rules and subject to the stated hours and capacity limits.
