Burley planning commission begins review of comprehensive zoning code update

McArthur reviewed several approaches: updating the existing Euclidean code into a table-based format while retaining its basic structure, form-based zoning, performance zoning, incentive zoning and inclusionary zoning. He said a comprehensive rewrite would be time-intensive and likely face public pushback, and emphasized that any new code would need clear specifications to allow for administrative enforcement. McArthur also said existing property uses would be grandfathered.
Commissioners agreed to conduct individual research on the different zoning types and asked that the topic remain a rolling agenda item for future meetings. No ordinance or formal code change was adopted at the session.
