Marshall County approves grants, playground surfacing and fencing, multiple personnel actions

Parks and capital projects: Using funds from a $79,000 crumb‑rubber playground grant, the court approved an additional $11,400 for extending rubberized surfacing to existing concrete and separately approved $24,185 to install a 4‑foot aluminum fence (black finish, two gates) around the playground; the fence cost will come from the crumb‑rubber grant balance. The court also discussed a possible retaining wall and regrade at the park entrance to add roughly 20 parking spaces; staff will scope that work and report back.
Personnel and payroll: Pagel read multiple personnel items and wage corrections effective July 1, 2026: several dispatchers had wage adjustments, deputy sheriff wages were increased, animal‑control and seasonal hires were approved, and at least one dispatcher received a service adjustment. The court approved each listed wage change and new hire by voice vote. The court also reappointed Carolyn Allen to the seniors board and appointed Jonathan Baker to the West Marshall Fire Board, both with terms to expire in 2029.
Finance motions: Treasurer‑office representative Erica reported bank transfers and deposit corrections; the court approved the transfers. A motion to pay the county’s bills passed by voice vote.
The court then moved into an executive session to discuss litigation and personnel under KRS 61.810(1)(c) and (1)(l) and later adjourned.
