New Hanover County staff presented the 2025 annual tax settlement to the Board of Commissioners on July 13 and commissioners approved the report by voice vote.
Staff reported the General Fund levy at $243,710,197.20 with an uncollected balance of $894,944.19, yielding a collection rate of 99.63%. Debt Service levy was $9,102,104.06 with a collection rate of 99.62% after an uncollected balance of $34,681.71. The county's fire district levy was $22,905,284.51 with an uncollected balance of $92,113.07 and a 99.60% collection rate. Prior‑year collections (2015–2024) totaled $918,919.19, staff said.
Commissioners praised the tax office's performance and singled out staff for running a high‑performing collections operation. A motion to approve the 2025 tax settlement was made and carried by voice vote.
