Franklin County departments present FY2027 budget requests for ambulance, elections and dispatch

Several county departments presented Fiscal Year 2027 budget requests and operational updates at the June 22 Franklin County Commissioners meeting.
Mark Gilbert, Ambulance Administrator, said the ambulance association based its request on past budgets and has applied for a grant to fund a quick response unit that would allow Dr. Bryce to respond with needed equipment. Gilbert reported an additional full-time employee has improved coverage and asked for a $5,000 increase in the supplies budget for items including a vacuum mattress.
Clerk Camille Larsen presented budget needs for the Auditor, District Court and Elections, asking for a new survey cabinet for the Auditor and noting potential costs to update election equipment.
Sheriff Cuyler Stoker said dispatch is awaiting onboarding with the new State 911 system and that past state grant funds were retained by the state; dispatch remodel is ongoing, White Cloud will install radios soon, and Stoker proposed converting the EOC kitchen into a bathroom/shower for deputies and creating a separate drug-test area.
Commissioners thanked presenters; no budget approvals were recorded in the minutes on June 22 — these were requests and updates to be considered in the FY2027 budget process. The meeting included an executive session on land acquisition; no public action resulted.
