During public comments at the Sept. 15 meeting, resident Shelia Erickson told the council the Old Zekes Building has broken windows and that gas pumps remain on the property.
The minutes record that the City Clerk will inform the city code enforcement officer to inspect the building and send a violation letter regarding the broken windows. Council members noted that the pumps are on private property and therefore are the responsibility of the property owner rather than the city.
No formal motion to order demolition or other enforcement action on the building was recorded in the minutes; separate agenda items later in the meeting addressed condemnation and demolition by resolution.
