Board grants CPA exam waiver, approves CE credit and directs inquiry letters for lapsed permits
Summary
The Board granted a waiver to allow Taylor Goos to sit for the CPA exam, approved 16.5 CE hours for articles by Brad Thies, and instructed staff to send inquiry letters to individuals who appear to be practicing without renewed permits.
At its Aug. 23 meeting the Kansas Board of Accountancy granted a waiver under K.A.R. 74-2-7(g) allowing Taylor Goos to sit for the CPA exam based on her work experience.
The Board also reviewed peer-review statuses and a list of individuals who had not renewed permits; Executive Director Susan L. Somers said staff would send letters of inquiry where there was evidence of continued practice without a permit.
Separately, the Board considered a tabled request from Brad Thies to receive continuing professional education credit for several articles he had written during the renewal period ending June 30, 2019. After discussion the Board approved 16.5 CE hours for those articles (motion by Kathryn J. Mitchell; second by Michael L. Marsh).
Board members handled these licensing- and compliance-related items as part of their regular agenda.
