Board approves reciprocity and renewals, and declines objection to dissolving injunction

TOPEKA, Kan. — At its Jan. 19 meeting the Kansas Board of Accountancy approved a reciprocity certificate, renewed a permit after testimony, recorded no objection to dissolution of a prior injunction in one case, and recessed to reconvene on Jan. 31, 2018.
After hearing testimony and deliberating in closed session, the Board approved Larson Patrick Carter’s application for a Kansas CPA certificate by reciprocity (motion by T. C. Anderson; second by Corlene Lange). The Board also approved the renewal application of Nicholas J. Novelly following testimony; investigators in that matter recused and the motion to approve came from Kathryn J. Mitchell (motion: Ms. Mitchell; second: T. C. Anderson).
The Board reviewed a request from Jenica Chartier, represented by counsel Joel Krieger, asking whether the Board would object to her petition to dissolve a 2014 Johnson County District Court injunction prohibiting her from practicing without a valid CPA certificate and permit. The Board authorized General Counsel Darin Conklin to sign an order stating the Board has no objection to dissolution of the injunction (motion by T. C. Anderson; second by Meredith Richey).
The meeting was recessed to Jan. 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. to allow reconvening for the Bradley R. Thies disciplinary hearing and other unfinished business.
