At its July 26 meeting the Kansas Board of Accountancy reviewed and ratified CPA exam grades for the April–May–June 2019 testing window.
The Board granted a waiver for Josh House of the Accounting Information Systems course and a waiver for Erin Winter of a college algebra course under K.A.R. 74-2-7(g), in both cases based on work experience; Winter’s waiver was also based on completion of an MBA. Motions to grant the waivers were moved and seconded and recorded as carried in the minutes.
As part of administrative business the Board approved the consent calendar (minutes, reciprocity certificates/permits, firm registrations and financials) and voted to authorize travel for the Executive Director, Board members, staff and legal counsel for FY2020 to attend Board business meetings.
On continuing-education and peer-review matters, Executive Director Susan L. Somers presented lists of firms with peer reviews due or in process. The Board tabled a request from Brad Thies to allow CE credit for authored articles and granted Howard & Company, LLC an extension of its peer-review due date to September 16, 2019; the extension requires either a peer-review completion letter or a letter from the administering entity stating the peer review is in process, with no further extensions allowed.
The Board then proceeded to the disciplinary docket.
