The Unified School District #286 Board of Education voted on several administrative measures at its June 8 regular meeting in the district office, approving updates to the Classified Handbook, a new partnership with Greenbush Virtual Academy, and a package of KASB policies following review. The board also authorized closure of the 2025-26 budget.
The Classified Handbook was updated with three changes to employee provisions — language related to health insurance, bereavement leave, and the district annuity plan — and approved unanimously after a motion by P.J. Buck and a second by Kelsy Sproul. "The Classified Handbook is approved as presented," the board recorded; the motion passed 6-0.
The board discussed a proposed partnership with Greenbush for an online learning option, with Superintendent Jamie Wetig answering board questions about program details and impacts. Garrett Jones moved to approve the Greenbush Virtual Academy partnership; Wesley Wilson seconded and the motion passed 6-0.
Mr. Wetig reported that the district reviewed 335 KASB policies and 57 forms; he said the School District Grade Levels policy will be updated to reflect the district's new configuration of Pre-K–6 and 7–12 before posting. Kelsy Sproul moved to adopt the reviewed KASB policies; Wesley Wilson seconded and the motion passed 6-0. KASB will finalize the policies for posting to the district website.
On financial housekeeping, Wesley Wilson moved to approve the 2025–26 Budget Closure Authorization; Kelsy Sproul seconded and the motion passed 6-0.
