Carbondale council approves two maintenance hires, funds dock repair and other maintenance expenses

The City Council on Aug. 4 approved two employment offers in the maintenance department. By motion of Kevin Seals, the council extended an offer to Bryce Moore at $16.84 per hour, contingent on a background check and drug screen; Chad Moore recorded an abstention on that motion. The council also approved an offer to Dustin Hill at the same rate, contingent on the same checks.
On park and maintenance repairs, the council approved spending up to $2,000 to fix the dock at Strobridge Reservoir (Carbondale East Lake), choosing an option to dig out a lower space for the concrete form. Council also authorized use of Precise Garage Door (PGDS) to repair the maintenance building garage door including motor, installation and warranty. Staff reported maintenance expenses including a $250 tire for the Kubota, a $26 belt for a Ford and an air-conditioner repair; the vendor shipped the wrong maintenance trailer, creating about a month’s delay for the replacement.
Separately, the council approved a $100 donation to support Santa Fe Trail Junior High athletics after Robby Madden spoke to the council.
