Carbondale council approves $22,230 park lighting purchase, orders replacement carbon auger and local newspaper ads

The City of Carbondale approved several procurement and maintenance items at the Aug. 18 council meeting. Councilmember Chad Moore presented a quote for electrical equipment to light the park; the council approved purchasing the lighting for $22,230.24 from park funds.
Dustin Bretsnyder reported that a carbon auger at the water plant had snapped; the auger is essential to the carbon feed used in treatment. The council approved purchasing a replacement auger from Marrick for $3,645 and authorized repairing the current auger to use as a spare while awaiting delivery. Bretsnyder also described dock floats (two individual floats measuring 3 feet by 4 feet by 26 inches) and the council asked staff to seek bids to replace aging pipe east of town.
The council approved a $315 ad purchase in the Osage County Herald for Santa Fe Trail sports after discussion about the ads being repetitive but supporting the local newspaper. The council also approved reimbursing Shannon Seals $148.50 for apparel.
