Kansas Board of Accountancy adopts amendment to K.A.R. 74-1-3 after public hearing

The Kansas Board of Accountancy voted to adopt an amendment to K.A.R. 74-1-3 on Oct. 25, 2019, following a public hearing held at the Landon State Office Building in Topeka. Chair John R. Helms, CPA, recessed the regular meeting at 9:30 a.m. to convene the hearing; the Board reported no public comments or comments from the Joint Rules and Regulations Committee.
Executive Director Susan L. Somers told the Board she had received no public comments. The Board closed the hearing, reconvened the regular meeting and, after a roll-call vote, all members voted in favor of adopting the proposed amendment. The Board directed Ms. Somers to record the roll-call and the regulation was declared adopted.
The hearing record included representatives from the Kansas Society of CPAs and the Public Accountants Association in the meeting, but no one offered comments opposing or supporting the amendment during the hearing. The adoption followed the Board’s normal rulemaking procedure and will be reflected in the agency’s regulatory filings and administrative record.
The Board did not attach additional conditions to the amendment at the time of adoption. The Board’s administrative staff will complete the standard publication and notification steps required under Kansas administrative procedure.
