The City of San Clemente Planning Commission held its annual reorganization at the July 15 meeting, electing Cameron Cosgrove as chair for the 2026—6 term. Cosgrove, who presided over the meeting, won a majority vote of the six commissioners present after an initial nomination for Commissioner Freeman failed.
City planner Zach Reem outlined the procedure for selecting officers and called the roll for each nomination. The commission then unanimously selected Commissioner Kemp as vice chair and Commissioner McCann as chair pro tem. The commission also reappointed the existing design review subcommittee membership (Commissioners Kemp, McCann and Cosgrove) and selected Commissioner Freeman as the alternate.
Chair Cosgrove thanked the commission and pledged to continue the body's current cadence of work. Reem noted the process required a majority of commissioners present to confirm each officer. The reorganization concluded without further procedural action; the commission moved on to scheduled public hearings.
