A construction presenter reported progress on multiple Madison County school projects, saying crews are finishing decking and roof work, tying gym ductwork into mechanical systems and beginning ceiling-grid and finish work as parts of the buildings advance toward inspection.
The presenter said geothermal drilling at Daniel Boone is nearly complete and crews expect to wrap up before school starts so portions of the site can return to school use. “We’re gonna have water to the building starting Monday,” the presenter said, describing near-term utility and paving work.
The presenter also reported Kit Carson’s drilling is about half done and that the project was placed out for bid; the presenter gave a pre-bid date of July 21 and a bid date of about August 5. Other updates included interior flooring, painting and installation of classroom enhancement packages under separate approval.
Board members and staff thanked the presenter for the report; multiple projects are targeted to be wrapped toward the end of August and crews are working extended hours where needed. The presenter noted that site protections will remain in place while construction continues near occupied spaces.
