Treynor board approves $158,136 At‑Risk/Dropout Prevention allocation and routine procurements

On Jan. 12 the Treynor Community School District Board of Directors approved a set of routine operational and program funding actions, including an At‑Risk/Dropout Prevention funding request and several procurement and policy approvals.
Mr. Wilkie moved and Mr. Waggoner seconded approval of the district's At‑Risk/Dropout Prevention Modified Supplemental Amount request of $118,602. The board recorded that the program requires a district match of $39,534, creating a total program budget of $158,136. The board cited Iowa Code sections 257.38–257.41 as authorization for the request. The motion carried on a 4–0 vote (Christensen, Dreyer, Wilkie and Waggoner voting aye; Olson absent).
The board also approved a SYNCQUIP bid to replace the compressor on an elementary HVAC unit (serving the third‑grade pod) in the amount of $19,398.01. That motion was moved by Mr. Christensen and seconded by Mr. Wilkie and carried 4–0. The board voted to proceed with a request‑for‑proposal process for contracted evening cleaning services for the middle school and high school; that motion was approved 4–0 with one absence recorded.
In policy and curriculum actions, the board approved the district curriculum review process and associated materials (motion by Mr. Christensen, seconded by Mr. Wilkie) and approved the second reading of policies 507.1, 507.2 and the 600–603 series (motion by Mr. Waggoner, seconded by Mr. Christensen). Both motions carried unanimously.
All formal motions at the meeting passed by recorded 4–0 votes where tallies were provided. The board set its next regular meeting for Feb. 9, 2026; the Jan. 12 meeting adjourned at 7:50 PM.
