Director raises concern after vendor altered system access; meeting set to restore staff access

At the July 7 meeting Director Rossella Tesch told trustees that Intralink, a vendor that supports the library’s systems, recently updated the library’s computer environment and changed passwords and other software settings in a way that currently limits staff access to library systems.
Rossella said the City had in the past encouraged the library to enter into an agreement with Intralink similar to the City’s arrangement; she said she declined such an arrangement because of concerns about privacy of files and library databases. Rossella said Intralink made the changes without the director’s or staff’s permission and that she and Carl would meet with Intralink personnel on July 8 to restore access and to provide staff and Carl with the same operational access as before.
Rossella committed to report back to the board after that meeting. The board did not take formal action at the July 7 meeting; trustees asked for the outcome when Rossella returns with details.
