Hamilton Police Chief Weiss told the council on June 8 that Harris County New Horizons presented a certificate recognizing the department's co-responder program, which pairs officers with mental-health assistance resources for immediate response. Chief Weiss also reported HPD participation in a Harris County Library literacy event and said Officer Hassell received a field training officer certificate from the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training program.
Fire Chief Oliver reported that the department responded to 46 calls in the last two months, including three structure fires, 21 alarm responses, 10 woods or grass fires, two motor-vehicle accidents, four instances of trees blocking the road and five medical calls. Chief Oliver noted that most calls were false alarms or minor in scale and that the department has an annual hose test scheduled for next month.
