RWJPA accepts CDC fundraising spreadsheet and authorizes early $1 million distribution

Amy Clark, a RWJPA staff member, told the board the Children’s Discovery Center submitted an Excel spreadsheet from Dan Julson documenting funds raised and asked the authority to accept that spreadsheet as proof of raised funds if its accuracy is certified.
Fred Strege suggested requiring an affidavit signed by Julson and a CDC representative to confirm the spreadsheet’s accuracy. The board voted unanimously to accept the spreadsheet together with the affidavit as acceptable documentation.
Clark also explained that the CDC has a previously approved $1 million matching grant and asked the board to authorize an early distribution of those funds so construction and exhibit equipment installation can proceed. Madison Schuler said the advancement would allow construction to move forward and permit installation of existing exhibit equipment.
The board discussed that the early payment should be treated as a distribution of already-approved funds rather than a loan. Eric Klindt moved to authorize the early distribution of the $1 million; Jon Braton seconded. The motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.
Next steps include finalizing the affidavit for signature and processing the early distribution under the terms previously approved by the RWJPA.
