The Butte‑Silver Bow Council of Commissioners approved the consent agenda for the July 15 meeting after Commissioners Thatcher and O'Leary asked for two items to be segregated. Commissioner Morgan moved to approve the consent agenda with the stated exclusions; the motion passed 10–0.
Clerk and Recorder Cindy Sherman requested authorization to open a 10‑day filing period for the coroner vacancy after the only candidate withdrew. Sherman cited MCA 13‑14‑118 as the authority requiring the filing window and said filings will be accepted July 20–29, 2026 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). She also noted that the write‑in period for other races remains open through Aug. 5. Commissioners voted 10–0 to place the communication on file and to open the filing period.
Finance and Budget Director Karen Hassler asked to schedule a presentation on the preliminary fiscal‑year 2027 budget for July 22, 2026; Commissioner Thatcher moved to hold communication 2026‑364 in the committee of the whole pending that presentation, and the council approved the motion 10–0.
