LRSD: outcomes-based tutoring with On Your Mark helped many third-graders move out of 'at-risk' level, district says

Key outcomes reported by the district presenter:
• 125 students moved from level 1 to level 2 (the district projection was 108), which removed them from an at-risk retention category.
• 14 students reached level 3 (proficiency).
• 136 students increased their scale score by at least 10 points.
• Attendance was correlated with outcomes; 28 students did not meet attendance criteria for payouts. Forward Arkansas provided some funding that schools used for attendance incentives.
The district said that some targets were outpaced and therefore the contingent payout was earned for those outcomes; for others (one outcome where the target was not fully met) the district paid less than the maximum contingency.
Board members asked whether a control or comparison group exists to evaluate tutoring impacts relative to students who did not receive services; staff said they did not have that analysis on hand but could produce comparative numbers.
Staff reported talking with On Your Mark about continuing tutoring and said the state plans to release another grant round; LRSD will pursue funding and consider expanding outcomes-based contracting to other supplemental programs.
Next steps: staff said they will provide comparative analyses (students who did not receive tutoring) and pursue opportunities to expand or reapply for funding; the district emphasized attendance interventions as a key lever for future success.
