Sac City Council unanimously approves property conveyance, backs federal trails grant and loan program; OKs consent agenda

The Sac City Council on Oct. 8 unanimously approved a package of motions that included a real estate conveyance, acceptance of title to a specified parcel, authorization to serve as fiscal agent for a federal recreational trails grant application and an agreement with the National Rural Water Association (NRWA) revolving loan program. Mayor Scott Bundt presided over the meeting, which began at 5:00 p.m. and adjourned at 5:19 p.m.
Council member Tom Lownik moved to approve the consent agenda, which included the meeting agenda, the Sept. 24, 2024 minutes, three applications for bow-hunting licenses inside city limits, and claims. Council member Teresa Bruening seconded the motion; the roll-call vote was unanimous. The council approved claims totaling $129,028.12, including Wellmark health insurance ($33,230.18), Sac County Solid Waste quarterly assessment ($25,787.50), MidAmerican Energy ($9,344.05), and multiple payments to Clayton Energy for commodity and reservation charges.
During a public hearing on a real estate conveyance, Council member Bob Murley moved to close the hearing; Council member Larry Mahler seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously to close it. Following the hearing, Teresa Bruening introduced Resolution No. 2024-38, a resolution approving the real estate conveyance. Council member Tom Lownik moved to adopt Resolution No. 2024-38; Bob Murley seconded, and the council voted aye.
The council then considered Resolution No. 2024-39, authorizing the city administrator to accept title to property described as PT NE 1/4 NW 1/4 and SE ¼ NW 1/4 24-88-36. The resolution was introduced by Teresa Bruening, moved by Larry Mahler and seconded by Bob Murley; the motion passed on a unanimous vote.
Next, the council approved Resolution No. 2024-40, authorizing the City of Sac City to support and serve as fiscal agent for a federal recreational trails grant application. Teresa Bruening introduced the resolution; Larry Mahler moved and Bob Murley seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Finally, on the motion of Teresa Bruening, seconded by Larry Mahler, the council adopted Resolution No. 2024-41 authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the National Rural Water Association revolving loan program. The motion to approve the NRWA agreement was adopted unanimously.
The meeting concluded with a short council forum and a motion to adjourn by Teresa Bruening, seconded by Tom Lownik. The session ended at 5:19 p.m.
