Lower Macungie Township commissioners voted July 16 to authorize submission of a DCED multimodal grant application for ADA ramps in several neighborhoods and to allow the township manager to execute related documents.
Township staff member Bruce told the board the grant request is “a little over $1,100,000” and that the township would provide a roughly 30% local match, which he said would be approximately $350,000. The resolution (2026-28) authorizes staff to submit the application and execute required paperwork.
The item was presented as part of the board’s regular agenda and discussed briefly at the July workshop, Bruce said, before the board moved and approved the resolution by voice vote. President Beitler called for the vote and the motion passed.
Why it matters: the multimodal grant targets accessible curb ramps and pedestrian improvements across multiple locations, which would improve sidewalk and crossing accessibility for residents with mobility limitations. If awarded, construction timing will depend on grant schedules and project scoping; Bruce said the project was for the 27–28 performance years.
