Township zoning officer Chris Russo reviewed several proposed changes: clarifying home‑occupation limits to remain on the same site as the dwelling; allowing fences at property lines so owners bear maintenance responsibility; updating the township’s limit language on residential solar kilowatt capacity; and setting height limits for accessory structures on commercial properties. Staff proposed temporary permitting for shipping containers and pods with storage limited to private property, and a five‑foot grading buffer from property lines to reduce impacts on adjacent lots. Jones also described proposed performance standards to protect karst features, including setbacks and prohibitions on hazardous storage near geologic depressions.
Commissioners asked for more precise language on materials (for example, how to define 'stucco' or 'similar materials') and raised concerns about preserving open space. Staff requested commissioners email suggested edits within about a week; the draft will next go to a workshop, then to the board for authorization to advertise before a future recommendation.
