Cromwell resident urges county help after describing hazardous conditions at ballpark

Joe described a deteriorated facility with, in her words, "broken bathrooms... boards with nails literally hanging off..." and reported finding "needles, used needles, beer cans" while cleaning. She told the court she had posted photos to Facebook and contacted local volunteers and businesses willing to help; she also said the ballpark had an outstanding water bill of about $1,600. "The park is horrible," she said.
Joe said she had tried to contact board members she believes oversee the park and named people she said were associated with the ballpark’s board. The judge acknowledged the problem, said the court would try to find who currently serves on the ballpark board and asked county officials (Larry and another magistrate) to meet with Joe after the meeting to follow up.
Why it matters: Joe framed the issue as a public-safety concern for children and families in Cromwell and asked the county to help coordinate cleanup or consider assuming responsibility if management is absent.
