An agency official reported that parts were available with a three- to five-day turnaround and asked the council to allow the use of proceeds from the sale of the old rescue vehicle together with Act 833 funds to fix the rescue truck. Staff also confirmed that insurance covered most of the cost to replace a pump on the main lift station that was struck by lightning; the check amount and timing were discussed in the financial report.
Council members voted in favor of the motion to authorize repairs and related expenses. The agency official noted operational reasons for a smaller rescue truck (better access into driveways) and emphasized the desire to avoid using larger trucks when possible.
Separately, a resident donated $250 to purchase medical bags for the department; the donor asked that the city document the donation and staff indicated they would order the bags and provide photos for records and social media.
Council also discussed revenue collection through Surefire Recovery to bill insurance for wreck-related charges; staff anticipated receiving the first check the following month.
The approval allows staff to proceed with ordering parts, scheduling necessary repairs and documenting donated equipment purchases.
