Clifton council approves Pink House repairs, forms Events Committee and backs youth park request

Vice Mayor Steve Effros moved to approve up to $5,000 for priority repairs at the Pink House’s rear building — covering replacement of back‑building carpet, door, railing repair, gutter cleaning and a new lockset — and Councilmember Melissa Milne successfully amended the motion to allow investigation of non‑carpet flooring options. The amended motion passed by roll call with all five members voting aye.
Mayor Bill Hollaway moved to establish an Events Committee "for the purpose of facilitating communications between the Town Council and the volunteer committees that manage Town events," and nominated Councilmember Darrell Poe as chair. The motion was seconded by Vice Mayor Steve Effros and approved by poll, 4‑0‑1 (Councilmember Poe abstained from the vote on his nomination).
Councilmember Darrell Poe moved and Councilmember Melissa Milne seconded approval of up to $1,150 to Growth Media to establish and administer ten G‑Suite accounts for councilmembers, staff and two committee chairs; the roll‑call vote recorded each councilmember voting aye.
Poe also moved to approve Boy Scout Troop 1104’s request to use the eight‑acre park on Jan. 16, 2020, with the understanding the troop may change the date for inclement weather. Mayor Hollaway seconded the motion, and it passed by poll, 5‑0.
Other routine council business handled during the meeting included acceptance of the Treasurer’s report and approval of a Planning Commission recommendation on a use permit (see separate articles for financial and land‑use items). The meeting concluded after an executive session on Streetscape rights‑of‑way; the council reemerged and adjourned the meeting later that night.
The council recorded formal roll calls or polls for each motion where noted; no ordinances or long‑term policy adoptions were enacted at the Jan. 7 meeting.
