Council OKs banners, community projects and small operational expenditures
Summary

At the March 3 meeting the Clifton Town Council approved several community-event and operational items, including banner requests, minor facility maintenance payments, and community-environment projects.
The council authorized the Clifton Lions Club to hang a banner for the Annual Pancake Breakfast (to be erected no earlier than April 11 and removed by April 26) and authorized a banner for Clifton Presbyterian Churchs Spaghetti Dinner March 21-29. The council also authorized placement of a Clifton Day banner (Sept. 26 placement; removal Oct. 10) and a Haunted Trail advertisement banner; all banner motions passed by poll vote, 6-0. The clerk was directed to publish the Towns banner policy after advising Motier Bakery that the town policy prohibits for-profit entities from placing banners over Main Street; the Motier request was not approved as submitted.
On parks and environment items, the council authorized payment of $780 to Freedom Tree Service for removal of eight ailing trees from public property (approved by roll-call) and authorized the placement of two bluebird nesting boxes on the towns portion of the flood plain trail (motion by Councilmember Regan McDonald, approved 6-0). The council also authorized payment of up to $1,100 to cover the Town Naturalists rabies vaccination.
Next steps: The clerk will publish the banner policy to the town website; the Parks and Environment committees will coordinate installation of the bluebird boxes and the Treasurer will disburse payments approved by the council.
