Clifton council approves routine contracts, playground repairs and zoning enforcement; multiple motions pass unanimously

At its Oct. 1 meeting, Clifton Town Council approved minutes and financial reports, authorized payment of legal invoices, approved tree and playground repairs and a Community Hall HVAC maintenance contract, and directed zoning staff to require removal of an unpermitted structure.
The Clifton Town Council on Oct. 1 adopted its September minutes and approved the Treasurer’s Report and a set of routine payments and maintenance contracts. Mayor Bill Hollaway called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.; five council members were present and the motions below were adopted without controversy.
Council approved the Treasurer’s Report and authorized payment of two invoices for legal services to the Board of Zoning Appeals totaling $8,772.26. The council voted by roll call with Councilmembers Regan McDonald, Melissa Milne, Mayor Bill Hollaway, Vice Mayor Steve Effros and Councilmember Darrell Poe recorded as Aye.
On unfinished business the council approved tree trimming in Clifton Children’s Park, accepting a Freedom Trees proposal for $770. The council also acted on playground repairs after Ms. Donna Netschert reported several damaged pieces of equipment; the council approved contractor Florencio Contreras’ proposal to replace timbers, remove a large wooden mushroom and restore three benches for $1,500.
The council approved a $2,200 preventive maintenance contract with Service Mechanical Inc. for HVAC service at the Community Meeting Hall.
On zoning enforcement, the council authorized the Zoning Administrator to issue a letter to the owner of 7151 Main Street requiring removal of an unpermitted structure by the December council meeting or face additional actions.
The meeting adjourned following the listed business. Vote records in the meeting minutes show the routine motions mostly passed unanimously (poll or roll call 5-0), with the Planning Commission preliminary-use-permit recommendation recorded separately (see related planning article).
