Marion County commissioners on April 16 approved a $350,000 contract with David Evans and Associates to perform load-rating analyses and design minor structural repairs for priority county bridges through March 31, 2028.
Public Works told the board that ODOT updated load ratings in 2021 for 60 county bridges; 51 received load-rating limitations that affected agricultural commerce and emergency services. County staff and the consultant previously refined ratings for 11 bridges and now plan to assess and design repairs for the remaining prioritized bridges to address restrictions and improve ratings. The contract will include load-rating analysis, minor structural-improvement designs some of which can be completed by the Marion County Bridge Crew, and updating ratings with ODOT.
Commissioners said the work will be done competitively and faster than addressing single bridges one at a time. The board approved the agreement by unanimous voice vote.
