Staff presenters Ryan Crowther and Steve Preszler said the contract will be billed hourly, with an estimated $623,893.69 of the contract drawing on federal funds and an estimated $71,407.43 from county funds. They described a total project budget of $7,819,800, with approximately $7,016,706.54 from federal sources and $803,093.46 from county funds. The project area lies near the City of Independence and spans Marion and Polk counties.
Crowther and Preszler said the scope includes strengthening the structure to remove current load restrictions, repairing damaged components, replacing bridge joints, resurfacing the deck and repainting the substructure as needed. The schedule calls for preliminary design in 2025, final design in 2026 and construction beginning in 2027. Board discussion confirmed the federal grant funding is obligated and not expected to be affected by state budget challenges.
Commissioner Colm Willis moved to approve the contract; Commissioner Kevin Cameron seconded. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
