Board adopts ordinance approving zone change for Woodry Properties in Brooks-Hopmere area

Public Works staff presented an administrative ordinance to adopt findings and approve Zone Change/Comprehensive Plan Case #24-004 for Woodry Properties, LLC. The proposal would rezone a property on the west side of the Brooks-Hopmere community from residential to unincorporated community commercial.
Staff noted the Marion County Hearings Officer held a public hearing on Oct. 3, 2024, and issued a decision approving the zone change on Jan. 13, 2025. The board's duly noticed public hearing on Feb. 26, 2025, considered the record and staff recommended adoption of the ordinance and findings. Commissioner Kevin Cameron moved to adopt the ordinance, Commissioner Colm Willis seconded, and the board approved the ordinance by unanimous voice vote.
The ordinance and findings will be filed per county procedures; staff presented options including returning a modified ordinance or not approving the request, but recommended adoption based on the hearings officer's decision and the record.
